HOSA - Future Health Professionals

The purpose of the HOSA organization is to develop leadership and technical HOSA skill competencies through a program of motivation, awareness and recognition, which is an integral part of the Health Science Education instructional program.

Mission

The mission of HOSA is to enhance the delivery of compassionate, quality health care by providing opportunities for knowledge, skill and leadership development of all health science education students, therefore, helping the student meet the needs of the health care community.

Goals

The goals that HOSA believes are vital to each member are:

Membership

Membership is open to everyone who has an interest in the health care field. There is no GPA, grade or program requirements to join the HOSA chapter at school. You must pay the annual membership fee ($25) which goes to support the National HOSA, NYS HOSA and school chapter.

The chapter meets weekly. Members get to learn how to use medical equipment and perform medical procedures (for example: taking vital signs: BP, pulse, respiration, height, weight), use an otoscope, ophthalmoscope, perform vision exams) Guests are invited from the health care field to speak to members about educational requirements and job opportunities in different health care careers.
