Science Honor Society

The New York State Science Honor Society was established to recognize students who excel in science. The purpose of this honor society is to encourage an interest and understanding of science and science-related careers as well as to recognize the academic achievements in science and math of high school students. The Science Honor Society promotes and supports service, achievements, commitment, enthusiasm for scholarships, research, leadership and character.

Members of NYSSHS demonstrate their ability in science in the classroom as well as in science related activities in school and in the community. Students who are members are enthused about research, are service-mined, and present excellent personal character. They must maintain an overall 90 or above GPA, and in their math and science courses.

Our goal is to enhance knowledge and understanding of science by rendering service within the school and community through fundraising, going on walks for diseases and disorders, and through peer tutoring. We hope that through this society, students will be inspired to study and learn science. Possibly even seeking a career in science and technology.
